Background
When Karen Blackett started her media career, the industry was predominantly made up of white, middle-class men. Twenty years later and little has changed, she says – among senior management, at least.
To date, currently Chairwoman of MediaCom – the UK’s largest media agency, Karen has become the first businesswoman to top the Black Powerlist 2015, which celebrates the most influential people of African and African-Caribbean heritage and has been awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Honours list for services to the media industry.
